50 years To The Day
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VW Bro Alan Wellan had the pleasure of presenting a 50 Years Service to Freemasonry certificate to W Bro Keith Shaw, PProvSGW.
Keith has been an incredibly loyal member of The Aston Manor Lodge 6323 since his Initiation exactly 50 years prior to the presentation, and is still the devoted Almoner of the Lodge.
Lodge members and other friends were there to support him on what was a most convivial evening under the Mastership of W Bro Kevin Hughes. Gifts for Keith and his wife were presented as was a bouquet. He in turn gave grateful thanks to all, and everyone present went home with a plant or with flowers from him. Gifts all round in fact!
A beautifully prepared copy of the Proclamation was handed to Keith by the Deputy PGM's DC, W Bro Avtar Panesar.

Ten children from a local special needs school were treated to a day’s trout fishing in April by the Warwickshire Branch of the Masonic Trout and Salmon Fishing Charity (MTFSC). The event was held at Wolvey, near Nuneaton, courtesy of Mark Smith and the Warwickshire Fly Fishers Club. This was the first such event put on by the MTSFC this year and was organised by W Bro Ian Hart (Provincial Grand Tyler) and W Bro Bob Croxall (Lodge of Grace) and was attended by W Bro Eric Rymer, Assistant PGM.
The ten children had never been trout fishing before and their individual helpers, both masons and non-masons, assisted the children to catch 38 rainbow trout during the day, much to their delight. Their teachers were full of praise for the day, saying that it was wonderful to see the children actively participating, especially those who were normally unresponsive.
After the fishing session, the children were given a slap-up lunch, prepared by Bob’s wife Julia. Following that, each child was presented with a certificate and three lucky ones with special medals, for catching the biggest fish (a whopping 9 lbs) and for best teamwork. The presentations were made by W Bro John Clough, one of the trustees of the Charity.
The minibus full of happy children – and teachers – left to go back to their school in Coleshill, accompanied by a very fishy smell!
